Job Details:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Permanent Controller in the Real Estate sector of the Engineering industry to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in real estate, with a particular focus on multifamily residential properties, including apartments and units. Our Permanent Controller will play a critical role in financial decision-making and will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of our financial data and reporting. This role requires an in-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and experience with MRI and RealPage software.

Responsibilities:

1. Oversee all financial and accounting operations, including the design of an organizational structure that will achieve the department's goals and objectives.
2. Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget, financial forecasts, and report variances.
3. Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements.
4. Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
5. Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
6. Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
7. Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit.
8. Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants.
9. Work closely with property management and operations teams to provide financial insights and recommendations.
10. Use MRI and RealPage software for data management and analysis.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. A Master's degree or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is preferred.
2. Minimum of 5 years of overall combined accounting and finance experience, with a focus on real estate, particularly multifamily residential properties, including apartments and units.
3. Proven working experience as a Financial Controller.
4. Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures, with a strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
5. Experience with creating financial statements and general ledger functions.
6. Excellent accounting software user administration skills, particularly with MRI and RealPage.
7. Advanced MS Excel skills including Vlookups and pivot tables.
8. Strong analytical skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
9. Ability to direct and supervise a team.
10. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
