Overview As a Chick-fil-A Supply yard jockey, you will move tractors, trailers, and straight trucks in a safe, accurate, and timely manner at distribution center yards. Responsibilities In addition to making safe, accurate, and timely yard movements, the yard jockey will:
- Ensure that all transportation assets are located in the proper places on the yard at the appropriate times and assist in yard audits
- On occasion support asset fueling at our on-site fuel location
- On occasion support asset washing at our on-site wash bay
- Move both 3rd Party Carrier trailers and assets from Chick-fil-A Supply's private fleet
- Comply with all regulatory and company policy requirements:
- Operating within hours of service limits per the use of an electronic logging device (ELD)
- Maintain an acceptable Compliance, Safety, Accountability (CSA) record
- Follow all pre- and post-trip equipment inspection and DVIR reporting procedures
- Following all policies and procedures in the FSMA regarding safe food transport
- Immediately notifying team leaders of any accident or on the job injury and complete reports
- Wearing appropriate personal protective gear as required per policy
- Abide by yard safety procedures, speed limits, parking, pedestrian crossings, safety vests
- Attend scheduled safety and job training sessions
- Report defects, accidents or violations
- Other duties as may be assigned
Required Business Qualifications: - Manage time off to ensure proper rest and operate in compliance with DOT regulations
- Maintain a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays and overtime as needed
- Prepare for shifts to rotate
- Attend shift in proper attire and with PPE and safety equipment as required by company guidelines
- Work in a multi-temperature environment including freezer temperatures
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders including Distribution Center staff
- Adapt to change and respond to difficult and challenging situations in a professional manner
- Manage pressure and conflicting demands; prioritize tasks and workload
- Able to travel 5% for supplier visits and/or stranded tractor/trailer movements due to Hours of Service constraints on delivery drivers
Minimum Qualifications - EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Minimum 21 years of age
- Minimum 1 year commercial driving experience
- Occasionally lift up to 55 pounds, and/or move pallets/carts with mechanical assistance up to 2,000 pounds
- Perform work in all weather conditions
- Have and maintain an acceptable MVR in compliance with DOT requirements
Preferred Qualifications - Prior experience as a yard jockey or coordinating a transportation yard
