With over 8,700 employees across North America and operations around the world, we are steadfastly committed to our core values: safety, innovation, quality, integrity, service, diversity, and efficiency.

We’re big enough that our professionals have the resources to make a difference, yet small enough that you’re not just a number. You’ll work on key initiatives and build strong relationships across the company that will position USG for growth into the future.

USG offers work-life balance, specialist and general/managerial career paths, promotion from within, exceptional benefits, and incredible long-term career opportunities for the right professional. Each year, we have hundreds of employees who celebrate milestone anniversaries with us.

Role Summary:

We are seeking a talented User Experience Designer to join our dynamic team. This role involves designing user-centered solutions that enhance the overall experience for both customers and internal users. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to create intuitive and engaging user experiences, leveraging user research and data analysis to drive design decisions. Your work will involve understanding user needs, defining user flows, and creating wireframes and prototypes that bring ideas to life.

Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate with Teams:

  • Work with Product Managers, Engineers, Architects, QA, and other UX team members to design experiences for customers and internal users.
  • Partner with other UX and UI Designers to align patterns, priorities, and cross-functional experiences.

User Research and Design:

  • Conduct user research through interviews, surveys, usability testing, and data analysis to gain deep insights into user needs and behaviors.
  • Facilitate discussions with users and partners to define experience needs.
  • Create early-stage concepts to facilitate discussion, feedback, and alignment.
  • Design wireframes, mockups, prototypes, and detailed user flows to translate requirements and user needs into tangible interaction designs.

Evaluate and Improve Experiences:

  • Evaluate current experiences and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Conduct evaluative user testing, secondary research, and session replay analysis to improve experiences.

Documentation and Communication:

  • Develop detailed documentation for design deliverables and standards.
  • Communicate design decisions, rationale, and direction when presenting work.
  • Document data processes and structure for effective cross-collaborative use.

Manage Web Experience:

  • Manage the day-to-day operations, maintenance, and administration of the website portfolio.
  • Produce and publish new digital content creatively.
  • Perform enhancements to existing systems and develop new features for web applications.
  • Develop and refine procedures for repeatable success.

Analytics and Optimization:

  • Develop, evaluate, and oversee the implementation of A/B testing.
  • Monitor and analyze website traffic for insights to drive customer acquisition.
  • Understand all aspects of our platform including frontend and backend technologies.
  • Audit content to ensure accuracy and consistency across brands.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of demonstrated UX experience working with Agile product teams; enterprise B2B experience preferred.
  • Formal education in Human-Centered Design, Design Methods, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience designing and solving problems for complex business processes.
  • Proficiency in wireframing, design, and testing tools such as Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar.
  • Experience designing for responsive web solutions and complex internal tools.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and collaboration skills.
  • Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Experience with content management systems (CMS) and web analytics providers such as Google Analytics.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze raw data, draw conclusions, and develop actionable recommendations.
  • Experience using and contributing to pattern libraries and design systems.
  • Initiative to plan and execute work with attention to detail.
  • Work samples that show how you break down complexity, empathize with the user, and balance user needs, requirements, and technical considerations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with eCommerce, inventory management, or physical product UI.
  • Understanding of website architecture, internal website search, and URL structure.
  • Experience in participating in defining value-added platforms to support business initiatives.
  • Working knowledge of SEO, SEM, and social media acquisition tactics.
  • Experience in image editing tools such as Adobe Photoshop, XD, Figma, and/or Illustrator.
  • Bachelor’s, Associate’s, or certificate in Marketing, Communications, User Experience, or a related field is a plus.
  • Ability to keep track of developments in web technology and industry trends.
