Job Details

• The Operating Room (OR) Registered Nurse demonstrates critical thinking skills, scientific judgment and leadership in the anticipation and planning for the care of the patient in the operating room.
• The OR RN works with Surgeons, Anesthesiologists, ORT’s and other personnel to provide patient care in the Operating Room according to State Nurse Practice Act, AORN and regulatory standards, physician orders, policies and procedures of the Hospital.
• Responsibilities include scheduling cases, ensuring supplies, timeliness of cases, communication with families, updating physician preference cards, scrubbing and circulating surgical cases, and supervision of personnel delivering patient care.

Job Requirements

• Must have California RN license.
• Must have ACLS & BLS certifications through the American Heart Association.
• Must have 2 years recent OR RN experience in a hospital setting.
• Experience as OR circulator, experience with minor cases such as wound debridement, flaps, peg tube placements, tracheostomies, thoracentesis, paracentesis, bronchoscopies, conscious sedation.
• Must be familiar using Bovie, small instrument sets, setup for Ambu EGDs and Bronchoscopies.
• Must be willing to assist the hospital in other areas when OR is not busy (e.g., CT transports, audits, rounding).

Schedule Information

• Shifts will be 7am-4:30pm Monday-Thursday (36 hours).
• Need to be flexible based on cases.

Unit Specific Information

• Operating Room (OR) unit.
• Experience as OR circulator required.
• Familiarity with surgical equipment and procedures specific to OR.
