Job Details

• The Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for an identified group of patients in an inpatient environment.
• Demonstrates competency in delivery of care to a primarily adult population.
• Incorporates essential functions adapted from the ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice, 2nd Edition (2010).
• Performs nursing process including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Contributes to quality nursing practice using creativity and innovation to improve care delivery.
• Identifies aspects of practice important for quality monitoring and uses benchmarks to measure quality, safety, and effectiveness.
• Participates in efforts to minimize costs and correct process inefficiencies.
• Demonstrates consistency in hourly rounding and timely response to patient needs.
• May function in the scrub role in the operating room after completing necessary training/competency.
• Practices in an environmentally safe and healthy manner.
• Communicates effectively with patients and colleagues.
• Collaborates with patients, families, and others in nursing practice.
• Practices ethically guided by the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses.
• Advocates for patient safety, quality improvement, and equitable care.
• Utilizes appropriate resources to plan and provide safe, effective, and financially responsible nursing services.

Job Requirements

• Clinical competence and experience in the care and management of target patient populations specific to area of employment.

Unit Specific Information

• Operating Room (OR) - may function in scrub role after training/competency
