Description:

About the Role

Grand Canyon Law Group is seeking an exceptional Senior Criminal Defense Attorney to join our powerhouse Arizona team. This is a rare opportunity for a seasoned trial lawyer to step into a leadership-level role within one of the state’s fastest-growing criminal defense firms, a place where compassion, honesty, and results drive everything we do.

We’re looking for a true advocate: someone who commands the courtroom, mentors younger attorneys, and thrives on making a difference for clients whose lives are on the line.

What You’ll Do
  • Serve as lead counsel on serious felony and complex criminal matters throughout Arizona.
  • Strategize and execute top-tier trial defenses, plea negotiations, and appellate planning.
  • Provide mentorship and leadership to associate attorneys and legal staff.
  • Collaborate directly with firm leadership on case strategy and client development.
  • Represent the firm with professionalism, empathy, and advocacy in every interaction.
  • Uphold the highest ethical and professional standards while maintaining exceptional client relationships
Why Grand Canyon Law Group

We’re not your typical defense firm. We believe in helping good people take control of their case and save their future.

Our attorneys work in a collaborative, data-driven, and growth-minded environment that values skill, strategy, and humanity equally. You’ll join a culture where excellence is expected, but ego has no place and where every team member has the tools, mentorship, and freedom to do their best work.

We offer:

  • Robust internal systems and support (Clio, Paylocity, HubSpot).
  • Mentorship and leadership development opportunities.
  • Hybrid flexibility and modern office environments.
  • A firm culture grounded in integrity, collaboration, and growth.

This position is perfect for an attorney currently at another firm or a solo practitioner ready to join a high-performing team and elevate their practice without sacrificing autonomy or purpose.

Requirements:

Required Qualifications

  • 7–10 years of criminal defense experience in Arizona.
  • Active member in good standing with the Arizona State Bar.
  • Strong trial background, including major felony cases.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Arizona Certified Criminal Law Specialist (preferred, not required).
  • Proven success mentoring junior attorneys or leading a team.
  • History of handling serious, high-stakes criminal cases with professionalism and skill.
  • Strong writing, research, and negotiation skills.
  • Client-centered communication style, clear, calm, and confident.
