Dr. Karttikeya Mangalam founded SigIQ.ai in July 2023 and is committed full-time serving as the CEO and AI team lead. Karttikeya is a PhD graduate from the Berkeley AI Research lab advised by Prof. Jitendra Malik (top 10 AI researchers in the world) and over his last 7 years of research at UC Berkeley, Stanford, Meta AI, Google AI and IIT Kanpur, published 40+ research papers that have been cited 7000+ times. Karttikeya is joined by Prof. Kurt Keutzer as co-founder, and a team of fifteen full-time employees from elite institutions such as, UC Berkeley, Stanford University, EPFL, IIT Bombay and IIT Kanpur, working across AI, Engineering, Product & Growth. 

Position Overview:

We’re looking for a cracked front-end (or, full stack with a focus on frontend) developer, with prior experience in building consumer tech. This is a one in a company’s lifetime opportunity to join a fast-moving high-growth startup at the very initial phases (seed stage) and drive amazing impact by helping build AI-powered applications of the future.

This role reimagines future learning experiences to bridge the gap between cutting-edge technology and currently employed garden variety tech prevalent in education. You'll leverage your tech expertise to build futuristic GenAI applications that go beyond chatbot-style user experiences by integrating AI seamlessly to all user interactions. You will work hand-in-hand with our world-class engineers, researchers, and educators.

Qualifications:

Non-negotiables:  

• Prior experience in React.js for web development in consumer tech. Your primary ownership will be building delightful and responsive UI experiences for our AI-powered tutoring application.
• Unassailable rock strong work ethic . We work 6 days a week, and 50-to-60-hour work weeks are routinely expected. Of course, we compensate accordingly. 
• Strong belief in a future where every student has a personalized AI tutor mentoring them to learn better, faster and achieve their goals.

Good to have:

Background 30 points 

• 15 points: ≥ 2 YOE at a pre-Series B consumer-tech start-up (≥ $1 M raised).
• 5 points: ≥ 1 YOE in an education-technology company.
• 5 points: Graduate of a tier 1 engineering institute/department
• 5 points: 1+ YOE as Lead Backend (team size > 4) or Tech Lead (team size > 3)

Product & App-Dev Experience 20 points 

• 5 points : Shipped a React web app serving 100k+ MAU.
• 5 points: Offline-PWA. Implemented Service-Workers, background sync & push for seamless offline UX.
• 5 points : Integrated Stripe/Razorpay flows and real-time notification pipeline (web-push or in-app)
• 5 points : Set up routing + universal links across web & mobile (marketing, attribution, etc.)

Lifecycle, Analytics & Observability 20 points

• 5 points : Integrated Mixpanel / Amplitude / Segment (event modelling, funnels, cohorts).
• 5 points : Rolled out Sentry / Datadog RUM / Rollbar plus feature-flag framework (LaunchDarkly, Optimizely, etc.).
• 5 points : Kept initial JS ≤ 100 KB, aggressive code-splitting, tree-shaking, lazy-loading
• 5 points : Implemented SEO, structured data and server-side rendering / dynamic rendering at scale.

Performance Experience 10 points 

• 5 points : Achieved LCP < 1 s, CLS < 0.1, TTI < 100 ms on a production site
• 5 points : Kept initial JS ≤ 100 KB, aggressive code-splitting,tree-shaking, lazy-loading

Bravado 20 points 

• 10 points : 1600+ rating on CodeChef/HackerRank/CodeForces/ICPC Regionalist+ 
• 5 points : Maintained an open-source repo or npm package with 500+ stars or 1k+ weekly downloads
• 5 points : Like Grinding (and have battle scars/stories to prove it)

Location: SigIQ is HQ’d in Berkeley, California and has a Gurgaon office for the India team. You will primarily be working out of our Berkeley office.
