Vaco is hiring! We are seeking a PT Bookkeeper for a partner of ours in Orlando. this role will also have an emphasis on tax preparation, as well. This is a remote opportunity with 10-15 hours a week. If interested, please apply today!

Weekly Schedule: M-F with flexibility in the hours each week.
Hourly Pay Rate: $15-17/hr

Duties and Responsibilities

• Record day-to-day financial transactions and complete the posting process
• Verify that transactions are recorded in the correct ledger (e.g. an Amazon transaction could be multiple sub-ledger accounts)
• Bring the books to the trial balance stage
• Perform partial checks of the posting process
• Complete tax forms
• Enter data, maintain records and create reports and financial statements
• Process accounts receivable/payable and handle payroll in a timely manner
• Consulting with clients to gather information about their financial situation and understand their tax preparation needs
• Reviewing financial records, such as income statements and documentation of expenditures to determine the appropriate deductions
• Using tax software or manual worksheets to calculate taxes owed or tax credits/refunds due
• Completing tax returns in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring compliance with tax laws
• Submitting tax returns electronically to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and state tax departments
• Advising clients on potential tax liabilities, credits, and tax planning strategies
• Keeping up to date with changes in tax law and regulations
• Maintaining client confidentiality and privacy

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED certificate
• Intuit’s Bookkeeper certificate, and Tax Level 1, or must obtain within 30-days of hire (free via Intuit)

• Valid Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN) or must be able to obtain within 30-days of hire.
• Familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

• Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting payable/receivable principles
• Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records
• Data entry skills along with a knack for numbers
• Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and proprietary software
• Proficiency in English and in MS Office

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting, or working towards

• Certified Public Accountant or Enrolled Agent license
• Bilingual communication skills a plus
• Experience in QuickBooks, Xero, and Liscio
