Job Description

The General Laborer (Unskilled) is responsible for performing a variety of manual labor tasks that support construction, maintenance, and environmental services. This includes both indoor and outdoor work in various weather conditions. No specialized training is required, and tasks can be learned quickly. General laborers work under the supervision of a team leader or foreman and must be physically capable of handling demanding tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collect rubbish, brush, and leaves from resident tree lawns and other designated areas.
• Sort and separate recycled materials for proper disposal.
• Mow grass, edge sidewalks, rake leaves, and maintain landscaped areas by pulling weeds from flower beds and shrubbery.
• Clean floors, equipment, and work areas as directed by a supervisor.
• Perform general manual tasks, such as lifting, digging, mixing, loading, pulling, and other physical duties as needed.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Ensure transportation to and from the Westlake Service Center is arranged, as neither the agency nor the workers are provided transportation.
• Work in all types of weather conditions, including rain, heat, and cold.
• Lift and carry items weighing over fifty (50) pounds.
• Wear appropriate safety gear at all times, including gloves, long pants, work boots, safety glasses, and rain gear.
• Maintain compliance with the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Class II or Class III (lime green) safety vest or apparel requirements, especially while working on or near roadways.
• Bring food and beverages for the day, as workers will be on the road for extended periods.

Skills And Qualifications:

• No prior experience or special training required.
• Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
• Physical capability to perform heavy lifting and strenuous tasks for extended periods.
• Knowledge of basic workplace safety procedures.
• Reliable transportation to and from the worksite.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift over fifty (50) pounds.
• Capable of standing, walking, and performing physical tasks for extended hours.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

Work Hours:

• Regular hours are from 7:30 A.M. to 4:00 P.M., with flexibility for up to 10-hour shifts
• This job involves essential manual labor duties in diverse conditions, requiring attention to safety standards and consistent reliability.
