About the Role:

The Medical Administrative Assistant plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of healthcare facilities by managing administrative tasks that support medical staff and patient care. This position involves coordinating patient appointments, maintaining accurate medical records, and facilitating communication between patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies. The role requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, healthcare regulations, and office management systems to ensure compliance and accuracy. By effectively handling administrative duties, the Medical Administrative Assistant helps to enhance patient experience and optimize the workflow within the medical office. Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in a medical administrative or office assistant role.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and healthcare office procedures.
  • Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and standard office software.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) or equivalent.
  • Experience with medical billing and coding processes.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA compliance and healthcare privacy laws.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • 30+ wpm accurate typing skills

Responsibilities:

  • Schedule and confirm patient appointments, ensuring optimal use of healthcare providers' time.
  • Maintain and update patient medical records with accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for patients, addressing inquiries and providing information about services and procedures.
  • Coordinate billing and insurance claims processing, verifying patient insurance coverage and assisting with claim submissions.
  • Support healthcare providers by preparing necessary documentation, managing correspondence, and facilitating communication within the medical team.
