Job Description

THE ROLE

As a key member of the Meat/Seafood department leadership team, the Meat/Seafood Assistant Team Leader has a breadth of responsibilities spanning from team member development and sales generation, to product management and merchandising. In this role, you help to ensure team members are educated about our products and that exceptional product quality and aesthetic presentation are upheld within our Meat and Seafood departments. Our fast-paced environment requires our store leaders to successfully prioritize a variety of tasks (administrative and service to our guests) throughout each workday.

  • Provides outstanding customer service and readily communicates product information to increase sales, meet revenue goals, and best serve guests.
  • Trains and develops team members; provides clear expectations, performance feedback, and coaching.
  • Assists the Team Leader with ordering products for the Meat and Seafood departments; maintains product inventory at a level that promotes creative and effective sales merchandising and maximizes sales potential.
  • Supports the Team Leader in planning and executing Meat and Seafood merchandising and displays; maintains high-quality product presentation while creating an exciting marketplace that impacts guest buying trends.
  • Prevents internal and external loss and conducts physical inventories and successfully practices inventory control.
  • Ensures the highest levels of food safety are upheld in the Meat and Seafood departments.
  • Successfully performs all duties of a Journeyperson Meat Cutter
  • Demonstrates dependability and flexibility; meets attendance requirements.

Successful candidates will have demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously and produce quality output while working within deadlines; they will possess excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Minimum two years of experience as a Journeyperson Meat Cutter, or two years of Seafood experience with completion of Meat Cutter certification within six months of hire
  • Minimum two years of supervisory experience required
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and motivate teams
  • Strong understanding of gross profit and labor percentages, with proven experience managing both
  • Possesses comprehensive product knowledge with a proven ability to train team members and deliver exceptional customer service
  • Working knowledge of food safety practices, including HACCP and Department of Health guidelines
  • Genuine interest in and enthusiasm for food
  • Possesses creative merchandising and display skills
  • Proven history of personnel development
  • Ability to effectively delegate and follow-through
  • Exceptional guest service skills
  • Excellent time management and organization skills
  • Proven ability to positively affect sales generation and manage profit and loss
