About the Position This is a full performance professional and administrative position within the Office of Human Rights. This position requires the performance of the duties normally contemplated for this class under the general supervision of a higher-level professional. Primary responsibilities include investigative work enforcing discrimination laws and policies in accordance with Title VII, Title VIII, Title I of ADA, ADEA, Division 12 of the Prince George’s County Code, and other applicable laws and statutes. Work is evaluated through the quality of investigations completed, reports, projects, and progress toward the Agency’s goals and objectives. Incumbents are required to treat all personnel and personal-related matters as strictly confidential. Examples of Work Perform outreach/training based on Anti-discrimination laws. Conduct fact‑finding interviews or conferences among complainants, witnesses, law enforcement officers, respondents, and/or their representatives to allow parties an opportunity to address the complaint; and to obtain relevant information that will serve as a basis to mediate/conciliate/resolve the complaint; or to defend/prosecute a case. Makes public presentations to groups to promote education, information, and awareness of the agency’s missions, goals, and objectives. Maintains accurate, complete, and retrievable records, data, statistics, and documentation for inclusion in reports or to provide information for potential use at hearings or in court. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in programs involving investigative and social relations skills such as criminology, law enforcement, business, or public administration, or a related field. A valid Maryland State driver’s license is required upon appointment. Any equivalent combination of relevant training, education, and experience may also be considered. Conditions of Employment Meet all training and performance standards and demonstrate proficiency as required by the agency. Wear and use agency protective apparel and equipment in the performance of assigned duties, if applicable. Successfully pass pre‑employment checks which may include reference checks, background investigations, and drug screenings. Be willing and able to serve as an essential employee: expected to report during standard or non‑standard hours as operations necessitate, or during emergencies.
