Orla is advancing permitting and development on our South Railroad Project, a feasibility-stage, open-pit heap leach project located on the prolific Carlin trend in Nevada. This project is part our larger South Carlin Complex which includes a prospective land package. We also operate the Camino Rojo Oxide Gold Mine, a gold and silver open-pit heap leach mine, located in Zacatecas State, Central Mexico. This low-cost operation is 100% owned by Orla, covers over 139,000 hectares, and includes a large sulphide mineral endowment located beneath the oxide resources. Orla most recently acquired the Musselwhite Mine located in Northern Ontario, a gold mine with more than 25 years of operating history and the potential to expand resources and mine life for years to come.

As we continue to grow, we are looking for a Health, Safety and Security Manager to ensure the effective implementation of the South Carlin Complex Health and Safety Program, fostering a safety culture towards accident prevention and having a safe work environment for employees, contractors, visitors, and suppliers.

Responsibilities

• Develop a robust and compliant Health, Safety and Industrial Hygiene program.
  Ensure the effective implementation of the Health, Safety and Industrial Hygiene Program compliant with MSHA and state regulations.
• Define and implement actions for regulatory compliance in Health and Safety.
• Direct the preparation, execution and monitoring of annual Health and Safety programs.
• Work with operational teams to develop initial operator and maintainer training programs.
• Oversee the scheduling and follow-up of the annual monitoring of the work environment.
• Create the processes and develop an Emergency Response or Mine Rescue Team for the mine site.
• Develop and enforce site security protocols to safeguard personnel, assets, and sensitive information.
• Supervise and inspect areas for hazard identification, risk assessment.
• Improve and govern the processes for incident management, verifying incident reporting and ensuring quality investigations.
• Monitor the Emergency Response Plans in both field and office locations.
• Work cooperatively with the Human Resources Manager to manage Workers Compensation insurance, investigations and claims.
• Manage exposure monitoring for dust, noise, vibration, and other occupational hazards.
• Conduct or participate in audits for compliance with site programs and policy, reporting the results to the site Environmental, Health and Safety Associate Director.
• Ensure incident investigation and reporting process.
• Coordinate the acquisition of a mine number under the Mine Safety and Health Act (MSHA) and the International Cyanide Code, in terms of Health and Safety, emergencies, etc.
• Provide management assistance in maintaining ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 certified status and setting goals and targets for all EHS programs having significant impact
• Prepare and coordinate the execution of the Health and Safety Training Program.
• Coordinate the Emergency Response and Mine Rescue teams.
• Oversee security systems and contractors.
• Lead the coordination, participation and monitoring of the Safety Committee and participation in the Nevada Mining Association Safety Committee.
• Ensure the provision of technical information on safety issues on new equipment, method of performing work, with equipment, and risk to employee health.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Industrial Safety Engineering, Mining, Mechanical, or related field.
• Ten or more years of safety management experience required, with a track record of proven leadership, the ability to manage teams and cross-functionally collaborate.
• Five or more years of open pit mining experience.
• In-depth knowledge of health and safety programs, open pit mining regulations, development of emergency response plans.
• Excellent leadership, communication and organizational skills.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
