Full Stack Web Developer

Reports to: Vice President of Technology

Location: New Kensington, PA (not a fully remote position - requires in office attendance)

Job Summary: As a Full Stack Web Developer, you will be responsible for building, maintaining, and improving our web applications and e-commerce systems. While the role leans toward back-end development — enhancing architecture, building integrations, and supporting large-scale WordPress multisite environments — you’ll also contribute to front-end features using HTML, Tailwind CSS, and JavaScript. Our stack includes Laravel, WordPress, and modern JavaScript frameworks like Next.js, with a strong emphasis on database management, API integrations, and scalable application design. In this role, you’ll also take ownership of maintaining and expanding our WordPress multisite network, ensuring reliability, performance, and long-term sustainability. 

Essential Job Functions:

• Design and build custom features in Laravel and WordPress (themes, plugins, and multisite). 
• Develop and maintain REST APIs and integrations with services like S3 and Mailchimp. 
• Optimize system performance and reliability, from database queries to server configuration. 
• Implement security best practices to protect applications and data. 
• Collaborate with front-end designers to build new features using HTML, Tailwind CSS, and JavaScript. 
• Write and maintain tests for critical application features. 
• Refactor and modernize legacy code to improve maintainability. 

Requirements

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field—or equivalent professional experience.
• 3+ years of experience with Laravel, PHP and some WordPress development. 
• Strong knowledge of SQL and database optimization. 
• Proficiency with front-end technologies (HTML, Tailwind CSS, and JavaScript frameworks) 
• A solid understanding of REST APIs and how to integrate them. 
• Familiarity with Git and managing different environments (staging, production). 
• The ability to manage projects independently and meet deadlines. 
• A proactive attitude and the desire to collaborate with a team. 
• Comfort with maintaining legacy systems while also modernizing them. 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with WooCommerce and custom fields like ACF. 
• Experience with deployment workflows like CI/CD or Laravel Forge. 
• Familiarity with Redis, queues, or other background processing tools. 
• Knowledge of Docker, Next.js, cloud hosting platforms, performance optimization, testing frameworks, CI/CD workflows, Devops and web security best practices 
• An understanding of SEO or analytics. 

Physical Requirements/Demands:

• Must be able to be stationary (sit or stand) for durations of time
• Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment.
• If work is performed in a remote setting (home), must have a designated area for work to maintain focus and professionalism, and a stable internet connection.
• Must have the ability to lift and carry small parcels, packages, and other items, and to walk short distances.
