Join to apply for the Email Developer role at Slate Auto Get AI-powered advice on this job and more exclusive features. About Slate At Slate, we’re building safe, reliable vehicles that people can afford, personalize and love—and doing it here in the USA as part of our commitment to reindustrialization. The spirit of DIY and customization runs throughout every element of a Slate, because people should have control over how their trucks look, feel, and represent them. Who We Are Looking For Slate is looking for an Email Developer who lives in Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SFMC) : building modular emails, writing AMPscript/SSJS, shaping JSON for dynamic content & APIs, querying Data Extensions with SQL, wiring Journey Builder/Automation Studio, and shipping high-quality, tested messages at speed. If you’d rather code than present, this is your role. What You Get To Do Build and launch emails in Content Builder using modular, reusable components (MJML/HTML, responsive CSS, design tokens). Hand-code responsive HTML/CSS emails with cross-client compatibility (Outlook, Gmail, Apple Mail). Write AMPscript for personalization, dynamic content blocks, error handling, and data lookups (e.g., LookupOrderedRows, UpsertDE, FormatDate, BuildRowsetFromJSON). Use SSJS & WSProxy for advanced logic, API interactions, and scale (create/update DEs, triggered sends, asset ops). Build and maintain Journeys (entry criteria, pathing, decision splits, event-based triggers). Write SQL against SFMC Data Views/DEs to power segments and QA. Integrate with systems via REST/SOAP, SFTP, and CloudPages endpoints; set up triggered sends/transactional definitions. QA end-to-end: device rendering (Litmus/Email on Acid), link & image checks, tracking parameters, and fallbacks. Document and templatize: maintain a living component library, usage docs, and runbooks for common tasks. What You Bring To The Team 3–5+ years building in SFMC (Content Builder, Journey Builder, Automation Studio, Contact Builder, DE relationships). Strong AMPscript and SSJS skills (including WSProxy patterns). Solid SQL experience for SFMC Data Views and production DEs. Comfortable with REST/SOAP APIs, JSON, and CloudPages (server-side form handling, tokenized links). Expert in email HTML/CSS (hybrid & fluid responsive), image optimization, fallback techniques, and modular systems. Knowledgeable about transactional vs. commercial sends and compliance enforcement. Habitual debugger: logs to DEs, uses try/catch patterns, and creates QA proofing data. Nice to have MJML pipelines, build tooling (Node, npm scripts), and design tokenization. Einstein features (Send Time Optimization, Content Selection) used in production. Automotive/e-commerce lifecycle experience (pre-order, order, accessory, warranty, service).
