Seeking an experienced Driving Instructor to be responsible for preparing students to take to the road safely, including teaching the rules and regulations of the road, has excellent communication and interpersonal skills. This position is part-time with flexible scheduling.

We are currently seeking a Driving Instructor who is passionate about teaching, enjoys working with people, and takes pride in helping students succeed behind the wheel.

Responsibilities

• Teach classroom lessons covering traffic laws, defensive driving, and safe driving techniques.
• Provide one-on-one behind-the-wheel instruction to teens and adults.
• Prepare students for the Connecticut DMV road test and ensure they meet all requirements.
• Assess driving performance, provide feedback, and adapt lessons to each student’s skill level.
• Maintain accurate student records, attendance, and lesson logs.
• Ensure all vehicles are safe, clean, and meet DMV standards.
• Communicate professionally with students, parents, and staff.
• Stay current on Connecticut traffic laws, DMV policies, and best teaching practices.
• Participate in team meetings and ongoing instructor training.

Qualifications

• Valid Connecticut driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Strong communication and teaching skills.
• Patient, dependable, and professional demeanor.
• Ability to adapt to different learning styles and personalities.
• Must be punctual, organized, and safety-minded.
• Flexible schedule (some evenings and weekends may be required).

Preferred:

• Previous experience as a driving instructor or educator.
• Familiarity with Connecticut DMV driver education programs.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.

Certifications & Requirements

• Must meet Connecticut DMV requirements for driving instructors.
• Must complete (or already hold) state-approved instructor certification.
• Must pass a background check and driving record review.
