This position works closely with operations, sales, dispatch, drivers, and customers to achieve goals and support safety in our Southeast Texas market./ph3Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)/h3ulliAssists with Life Saving Rules (LSR) audits of plant facilities regulated under OSHA./liliAssists accident investigation and root-cause analysis to ensure unsafe conditions/behavior are not repeated./liliOccasionally operate Ready Mix trucks in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to Department of Transportation (DOT), TXDOT, FMSCA and Texas Materials/CRH Health and Safety Manual./liliAttends and speaks at safety meetings providing insight on safety trends out in the field./liliConducts jobsite safety set ups, spot checks, analyses, and safety concerns on high-risk, high-profile jobs./liliObserve workers to determine use of prescribed safety equipment, such as glasses, hard hats, goggles, respirators, clothing, and other PPE./liliProvide health and safety support to Senior Safety Manager./liliWeekend on-call is required./liliConducts new hire orientation training to include SMITH Driving System./liliCoordinates and maintains good relationships with customers, drivers, plant and operations managers, sales and dispatch teams./liliExercises good safety judgment and communication regarding jobsite safety./liliFinal certifier on driver check rides and provides feedback to operations management./liliConducts Job Site Hazard Analysis (sends report to communicate to fleet)./liliCompletes weekly reports on safety activities conducted./liliIdentifies negative safety trends in the field and assists Senior Safety Manager with corrective action plan./liliConducts quarterly safety blitzes, builds reports and provides feedback to all field personnel./liliReviews monthly driver reports (evaluate, assess, ride along and coach)./liliOvernight travel is possible./liliPerforms other duties as required./li/ulh3Qualifications/h3pTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily./ppEducation/Experience/pulliAt least 1 year of concrete construction and/or industrial safety experience./liliThorough understanding of and ability to enforce all federal, state, local and company regulations./liliPossess a Class A or B Commercial Drivers License (CDL)./liliStrong knowledge of ready-mix concrete products./liliRecommended by operations management./liliExcellent driving, safety and attendance record./liliMaintain an active DOT qualification./liliAbility to read, write and communicate clearly and effectively in English./liliOSHA 10- or 30-hour training (within 6 months)./liliACI field grade I certification (within 1 year)./liliFirst Aid CPR Certified (within 6 months)./li/ulh3Work Requirements/h3pMust have a valid Class A or B Commercial state issued drivers license./ph3Knowledge/Skill Requirements/h3ulliAbility to recognize hazardous situations and implement essential corrective measures./liliHigh ethical standards./liliExcellent communication skills (both oral and written)./liliMust be able to orchestrate multiple activities simultaneously to accomplish a goal./liliAble to use resources effectively and efficiently and arrange information in a useful manner./liliBe able to be a strong voice in bringing the companys slogan of SEE, STOP, DO to the forefront./liliSelf-motivator with an open mind and positive attitude./liliExemplifies leadership qualities and the ability to perform well in a team environment./li/ulh3Preferred Knowledge/Skills/h3ulli2 years experience in the concrete industry, 3 years preferred./liliStrong knowledge of concrete products./liliCertified Smith System Instructor./liliACI Field Grade 1 Technician./liliOSHA 10 and 30 Hour (General and Construction)./liliFirst Aid CPR Certified./liliSmith System Certified Trainer./liliBilingual (Spanish) preferred./liliSolid training/teaching experience./li/ulh3Physical Requirements/h3pThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job./pulliAble to communicate with others by telephone and in person./liliAble to utilize a computer and iPad for word processing, e-mail communication, and preparation of documents and presentations./liliKnowledge in MS Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint and Outlook./liliIntermittent climbing, bending, squatting, kneeling are required./liliPeriodic, but extensive walking and standing required./liliMust also be able to drive a vehicle and walk uneven terrain./liliMay require periodically lifting objects up to 40 lbs./li/ulh3Work Environment/h3ulliMay be exposed to extreme hot, cold, and wet weather./lili20% of time is spent in an air-conditioned classroom environment.
