We are interested in seeking candidates who possess expertise in one or more sport management sub-specialities including: analytics, economics, ethics, facilities and events, finance, globalization, governance, law, marketing, measurement and evaluation, socio-cultural perspectives, or sustainability. Candidates who possess specializations in artificial intelligence, health technology, and/or health equity are highly encouraged to apply. Required Qualifications Earned Ph.D. in Sport Management, Kinesiology, or related discipline from an accredited institution. Doctorate must be conferred or awarded prior to the start date. Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate and graduate classes in Sport Management, as well as core major classes and/or general education classes as needed. Record of publications or strong potential for publications and external funding. Expertise in health technology and/or artificial intelligence as it relates to sport management and health equity. Applicants should demonstrate an awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a socially and economically diverse student population as might have been gained in cross-cultural study, training, teaching, and other comparable experience. Preferred Qualifications Priority will be given to candidates who possess one or more of the following: Ability and willingness to develop ongoing relationships and internship opportunities with sport organizations, facilities, and community groups at a variety of levels. A comprehensive understanding of kinesiology as an interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary endeavor, and enthusiasm to work in a multidisciplinary department. Key Responsibilities Teach sport management courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, supervise theses/projects, serve on thesis committees, and advise students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. May also be expected to teach in other areas of the major, in the general education, or activity programs. Help to facilitate growth of an innovative graduate sport management program, propose courses/curricula as needed, and establish internship opportunities with Bay Area sport organizations. Conduct research, seek external funding where appropriate, present professional papers, and publish in professional journals. The candidate will participate in shared governance, usually in department, college, and university committees and other service assignments. Faculty shall organize all their classes within the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS). The candidate must demonstrate awareness and experience in understanding the needs of a student population of great diversity – in age, abilities, cultural background, ethnicity, religion, economic background, primary language, sexual orientation, gender identity, and academic preparation – through inclusive course materials, teaching strategies, and advisement.
